Alpine White BMW F10 M5 With PUR Wheels

This Alpine White BMW F10 M5 is rocking a set of PUR Wheels featuring a colour finish combination that looks somewhat incredible with the white paint job. It’s a combination of matte black centres and bronze lips, something we don’t see very often. But it looks good!

These are part of PUR Wheels’ luxury line. The wheels are custom manufactured from forged aluminium with a three-piece configuration. This allows for greater customization options regarding the wheel setup and fitment. With sizes available in 19, 20, 21 and 22 inches, they are certainly a good selection for various high-performance tuning projects.

Whether these beautiful wheels make an impact to the performance, handling and overall driving comfort entirely, we’ll leave that up to the owners to decide.

BMW M4 Convertible

Can BMW make the M4 Convertible to be as fun as its brother, the M4 Coupe
To find out, BMW took a trip over to Munich to sample, over a series of twistier and some high-speed cruising, the new 2015 M4 Convertible.
The M division sees the M4 Convertible as a car requested by a small, yet passionate and wealthy M3/M4 owners.

Immediately the M4 Convertible stands out with the typical M design cues: an aggressive front apron, the 3D shaped kidney grille with the M logo, the flared wheel arches and the iconic four tailpipes. Add to these the beautiful Moonstone Metallic paint from the BMW Individual catalog and some black wheels, and you have a looker on your hands.
Compared to the coupe, the M4 Convertible not only gets a retractable hardtop but also gets an additional 250 kilograms of weight for a total of 1750 kilos (3858 lbs). The three-piece folding metal roof can be operated at speeds up to 18km/h, an impressive engineering feature with a roof this large. It also takes 20 seconds to fully retract the roof, another impressive figure.

When the roof is down, you have the choice to put up the wind blocker (if there’s nobody in the back seat) and BMW now offers a first for an M car – an optional neck warmer. Furthermore, the wind blocker folds into a small space and BMW has thoughtfully given it its own storage area behind the folding rear seats.
One good thing about riding with the top down is the pure sound of the engine. Yes, it is not the V8 we all got to love in the previous generation M3, but the growling sound from the 3.0 liter turbo is satisfying for most BMW fans.

Taking another lesson learned from the 4 Series Convertible by using a button on the inside of the boot lid which lets you lift the metal roof pieces up and down allowing for easier loading of things to the boot.

The BMW X6M

We are drawing ever closer to the rumoured reveal of the BMW X6M. It is said to be being revealed at the LA Auto show but as it reveal draws closer and closer we are seeing more of the skin from the prototypes.

The second generation X6 is a much smarter looking version of the original and the M does nothing but build on this by adding a re-stylised bumper, bigger wheels rear diffusers and quad pipes! Sounds like quite a beast if you ask us!

The engine will be a 4.4-liter, twin-turbo V8 but BMW's M division may work its magic to give it a bit more power!

Its transition options have not been fully confirmed but its 6-speed automatic could be replaced by a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission or an 8-speed automatic.

Social media...

BMW currently has over 9 million fans on Facebook.
In 2013, social media analytics tools show that 38 percent of consumers would take a look on the car dealership’s  social media pages before they purchase a car.
Millennials are without a doubt the most engaged demographic on social media and are the most active and willing to share content.
A recent survey carried out by Inside Facebook highlighted that 81 percent of millennials are active on Facebook with an average amount of 250 friends, statistics that far exceed those of other generations.

The automotive industry has begun to fully embrace social media. From automakers to car shows and automotive vendors and even us here at Big Motoring World, everyone sees the potential to not only connect with their fans but also drive sales.
By engaging with Facebook and other online networks, the car companies can publicise, for free for the most part, their products. The companies also look at the millennials as the next generation young professionals and future clients, so long-term relationships are needed to build trust and loyalty.

Big Motoring World along with BMW have also been successful to engage with car fans through our own social media channels: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+ and Youtube.

BMW i8 Replica For Sale on eBay

Laurel BMW of Westmont, IL, is selling on eBay a full scale replica of the new BMW i8. Ahead of its launch, most of the BMW i-certified dealerships around the country have received a full scale BMW i8 model to be showcased to customers in their show rooms.
Made of fiberglass, the i8 replica comes with functional LED lights but there’s a slight catch- It does not drive, doesn’t have an engine or transmission. You cannot open the doors and it does not have an interior. And furthermore, the wheels do not roll. So as you can probably tell, you won’t get very far at any speed in this BMW i8.
The eBay advertisement say that the BMW i8 replica should weight about 500 lbs since it was “carried in” by four guys. It is hollow underneath, about a quarter inch thick and it has bracing inside so it is very stable.

Essentially the car looks in its place in any spot you put it so we can see this popping up in the future in clubs, bar, restaurants or even in design exhibitions.
As of midnight, August 23, the bidding price was up to $8,200, not bad for a purposeless vehicle that doesn’t function like a car should.

The 2014 BMW i8 has a base price of $135,700. A recent one-off BMW i8 sold for $825,000 in Pebble Beach.

ZF 8-Speed Automatic gearbox!

Since 2009, the eight-speed automatic ZF transmission ensured that BMW customers experienced the best fuel consumption/transmission on the market.
Now a facelift of the award winning gearbox will come to market and it will be available in the 2014 BMW 520d.
The most efficient choice is the new BMW 520d Sedan with the revised ZF eight-speed automatic, which consumes 0.4 liters less than before and has a CO2 emission of 109 grams per kilometer.

Dr. Jürgen Greiner says “BMW is the first premium manufacturer to take advantage of the second generation 8-speed automatic transmission.”

BMW X2

The success of the BMW X6 has diversified to give us the BMW X4 Coupe and now the BMW X2!

The confirmed design hasn't yet been released yet but based on concert drawings and the test models but here it is:

Power will come from three and four-cylinder units. At the low-end of the range, there will be a 1.5 litre turbo petrol and diesel found in the 218i and 218d Active Tourer. The top end of the range, a performance X2 vehicle with 300 horsepower might appear as well to compete with the Mercedes GLA 45 AMG and Audi RS Q3.A plug-in hybrid version is likely as well, promising 100mpg-plus.

So, what do you think about it? Do you think the BMW X2 could do the next best thing in 2017?

2015 BMW X5

There has been a few rumours that the BMW X5 will featured an upgraded version of the current engine which is thought to put out more than 560 horsepower and closer to 600! That’s a pretty quick ride!

The car is scheduled to launch in the spring of next year and will have large air intakes, rear diffuser and a wider body kit- this is looking to be quite the car we think! The concept and test model also showcase new lights that flow around the front of the car and into the iconic kidney Grille!

To top it all off, this vehicle is also being designed to offer more miles to the gallon due to weight saving chassis! We can’t wait to get our hands on one and take it for a spin. What do you think, could this be the car for you?

Did You Know BMW Built An M8 Supercar?

Back in 2010, it was roumered that BMW had baught out an M8 super car. Now its came true!. The M8 was seen at a private event at the BMW Museum in Munich where for the first time, the company was unveiling their electric mobility plans and the i sub-brand. A clear contrast between a super powerful sportscar and a megacity vehicle.

A big V12 (likely larger than 5.0L of the 850/850CSi) is nestled under the bulging hood of this supercar. The engine carries with it 12 individual throttle bodies connected to the driver’s right foot. Interestingly, one of the biggest misconceptions of the M8 is that it shares an engine with the record shattering McLaren F1 as it was around the same time as the development of the M8 that McLaren commissioned BMW to build a very power V12 to power their supercar – after being denied by Honda.

Gliding down the flanks of the prototype the coupe carries the same wide hips of the 850CSI with a widebody kit modified to accommodate better cooling of the brakes and it’s believed to also used to channel air as a means of cooling the rear differential. While we don’t have exact figures, the rear wheels are quite wide to keep the big coupe planted in the twisties.

With all of these considerations – it’s easy to say the M8 was possibly the great M car never sold.
The M8 Prototype is a car that represents BMW M at its absolute peak during the early 1990′s – M GmbH, after just a small handful of successes like the E30 M3 and E28 M5. They knew they had another success on their hands but the M8 was to become a victim of timing – a car decades ahead of its time but undeniable in its nature and potential abilities.
It’s a shame that BMW couldn’t find a means in which which to bring the M8 to the masses, but maybe there is hope in the future.

Times Are Changing- BMW i3 and TATRA 603

BMW had the chance to showcase a somewhat unusual photo shoot depicting two cars that are generations apart, but similar in its shape and form.

These cars are the BMW i3 and a Tatra 603G V8.

Now you may ask yourselves what does the Tatra 603 actually have in common with the modern and technological filled BMW i3? These two cars are showing us how the technology and the world have developed over the years. It also emphasizes the development of car culture, civilization in general all, combined with technology breakthroughs that was impacted by sociological and economical changes from then to now. Whatever you may say, progress is sometimes best described by showcasing two similar things from completely different times. In my opinion, both are serving a purpose in showing us what time affords us in both design, manufacturing and development of the car industry overall. The differences between these two beautiful cars is a true showcase of where the future will go.

BMW vs Volkswagen Video

Check out Chris Harris as he puts the BMW and Volkswagen head to head.

The Golf R is powered by a EA888 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This will produce 290 brake horsepower.

Both vehicles aim to produce in the neighborhood of 300 horsepower, with the BMW taking the edge with 320 hp. However, the Golf R gets standard all-wheel drive, which is an option on the M235i.

Check out the video yourself and see what you think:

MINI USA's bizarre challenge...

Have you head of the viral campaign called the #IceBucketChallenge? No? You have now!

This is campaign challenges the darer to have a whole bucket of ice water thrown over them. Once the challenge is complete the participant is able to nominate others who have to complete the challenge themselves within 24 hours.

Now, the Head of Mini USA; David Duncan, has challenged all MINI owners to take participate in the campaign to prove that “even though they drive a small car, they can do big things”

A slightly strange challenge we think but we might be swayed into giving it a go! Would you take part in this new craze?

Mercedes updates the E-Class, adding improved standard kit, more power and lower emissions

Following 2013’s major facelift, Mercedes has once again set about improving the E-Class. On sale from September, there’s now improved standard kit across the range, with all variants also benefiting from more power, lower emissions and the German brand’s new 9G-Tronic gearbox.
Developed in-house, the nine-speed automatic transmission will be paired as standard to the E350 BlueTEC engine in the saloon, estate, coupe and cabriolet. It sees CO2 emissions drop by up to 17g/km, with the coupe leading the way, releasing only 136g/km. Economy has seen a similar improvement, too, resulting in up to 5.4mpg more depending on the model in question, all of which has been achieved alongside the addition of an extra 6bhp, taking total output up to 254bhp.

Every new E-Class will gain Collision Prevention Assist Plus as standard, too, designed to avoid and reduce the impact of collisions. This includes autonomous braking tech that works at up to 62mph should the driver fail to respond, and can also respond to stationary vehicles at up to 30mph, or else prevent rear-end accidents at up to 24mph.
Optional extras include the Premium and Premium Plus packs, which Mercedes claims will save customers 27 percent over purchasing each item separately. For the saloon, the £2,695 Premium Package adds a panoramic sunroof, split folding rear seats, reversing camera and Memory Package. Premium Plus costs a further £1,200, and throws in Keyless Go, the Comfort Pack and a more sophisticated sound system.
Both of these come in at slightly less when fitted to the Estate, costing £2,395 and £3,495 respectively, as the split folding seats and powered boot lid is already standard.

Other Mercedes are rumoured to be making an appearance late 2014! Take a look that these:

Mercedes AMG GT

Price: £80,000
On sale: late 2014

Mercedes has never had a true Porsche 911 rival, but that’s all set to change with the new AMG GT. Mercedes designer Gorden Wagener told Auto Express that the two-seater – revealed in our exclusive image – was “the most beautiful car me and my team have ever worked on”, taking inspiration from the 1952 Panamerica 300SL.
Under the skin will be a new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 developing around 480bhp, putting the car in direct competition with Jaguar’s new F-Type Coupé.

Mercedes V-Class
Price: £35,000
On sale: autumn 2014

Although it’s an eight-seat MPV, the new V- Class has been designed to stand apart from Mercedes’ commercial vehicle range. It’ll replace the Viano and be repositioned as part of the passenger car line-up. UK buyers can choose from two diesel-engined models (the V220 CDI or V250 BlueTEC); both have adaptive dampers as standard. An extra-long- wheelbase model is also available.
