2015 BMW X4 Vs 2015 BMW X6 – Which One To Buy?

12:00

Last week the BMW F16 X6 sports activity coupe (second generation X6) was revealed. The X4 and new X6 carry a lot of the same characteristics and features, which makes them very close to being identical twins!

The F26 BMW X4 is built upon the X6 SAC design concept; with similar details, but is kind of playing in a lower league than the X6. The differences are in the size of the two cars, price and of course the materials and optional extras.

Just to put the minor differences into perspective, the BMW X4 is only, 23.8cm shorter, 7.8 cm flatter, and 10.8 cm narrower than the new X6.

In addition the roof line is identical, the transition from the kidney grill and headlamps, the split side character line with special emphasis on the rear wheels, and the unique rear design. All of these features are hard evidence of their similarity.

Inside there are a few difference to separate these near identical born twins. The new X4 has a cockpit that closely resembles one from the X3, while the F16 X6 stands out with a free-standing infotainment display and high-quality two-tone leather interior, which is defiantly more modern and luxurious.

Large differences also exist in the engine range. Three engines (xDrive30d, xDrive35d, xDrive35i) are available for both the X4 and the X6, but other unique models have been tailored for the different cars. For example the BMW X4 xDrive20d and the X6 xDrive40d, and not forgetting the top end X6 models, the X6 xDrive50i and the M-Performance tuned X6 M50d.

The BMW X4 xDrive20d, the entry-level model, starts at £36,575.00 in the UK, while the cheapest X6 will set you back £51,145.00.

So with this insight and comparison, which one would you choose?
