2015 BMW X6 M Spotted in Donington Grey colour

The two new BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M come in two new colours, Long Beach Blue Metallic and Donington Grey Metallic. The blue was chosen as the launch colour for the X6 M while the beautiful grey shade was assigned to the X5 M.
Now for the first time, we have a chance to see the BMW X6 M in Donington Grey paint. The X6 M spotted here also comes with black wheels which add a nice contrast to the grey metallic.
The two M Utes made their debut last week at the 2014 LA Auto Show and will go on sale next year.

BMW says that over 10,000 kilometres were clocked around the Nurburgring with the two cars delivering performance equal or better with the E92 M3.
BMW X6 M project manager, Herbert Bayerl, said the 2,275 kg high-performance SUV can match the significantly lighter E92 M3 and its 1,700 kilos.
The two all-wheel drive Ms benefit from an updated V8 TwinTurbo engine delivering more horsepower and torque, as well as from a tuned up chassis, better and bigger brakes, and Michelin tires to match the performance of the car.
BMW’s 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, is giving the X5 and X6 567 hp from 6,000 to 6,500 rpm and 553 lb-ft of torque from 2,200 to 5,000 rpm. Those broad, flat torque plateaus helps the two M runs the 0–60 time of 4 seconds flat.

The 2015 BMW X5 M will be offered at a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price of $99,650 and the 2015 BMW X6 M will start at $103,050, including $950 Destination and Handling.

2014 BMW X6 review

The BMW X6 is now more spacious and practical; it gets more powerful, cleaner engines. But will these changes help it beat its rivals such as the Porsche Cayenne and Range Rover sport?

Whatever your thoughts are on the x6’s looks, it’s been a sales success for BMW – globally at least – and to keep the sales coming in, there’s a new model for 2014, the interior has been reworked to improve the quality and provide more space and practicality, while outside it gets sleeker looks. The X6’s engines have also been made more powerful, yet cleaner and more frugal.

The launch in December, those engines will be BMW’s six-cylinder entry-level 30d and performance – orientated M50d diesels, and a 50i V8 petrol. From spring 2015, a 40d diesel will join the range.
So, will the changes be enough to see the X6 make up lost ground on rivals such as the brilliant Porsche Cayenne and luxurious Range Rover Sport?

What’s the 2014 BMW X6 like to drive?

The triple-turbo 3.0-litre diesel engine in the M50d is a real powerhouse, providing huge pull from as low as 1600rpm over a very wide band. With so much torque, overtaking is done with total confidence, and there's even a pleasant engine note to accompany the revs – although much of it is artificially played into the cabin.
Noise isn't an issue with the 5.0-litre V8 petrol, which has much more of a growling, burbling character than you might expect. Press hard on the accelerator and you can see why it is officially faster to 62mph than the M50d, too, although you'll be hard pushed to notice any advantage in terms of its in-gear acceleration.
The petrol is also the more refined engine of the pair we drove, because unlike the diesel, it doesn't send back any trace of vibration through the pedals of wheel when being driven hard.

Every X6 gets an eight-speed automatic gearbox as standard, and as with the many other BMWs it's fitted to, it works very well. When doing its own thing in auto mode, it never changes down too many gears when pressing on, while in manual mode, changes using the wheel-mounted paddles are smooth and crisp.
The X6's steering doesn't provide much feedback, but at least its accurate, and weights up in such a way that you always place a lot of confidence in it through fast corners. The X6 also manages to stay extremely flat despite its hefty kerb weight and tall stance.
M50d models come with BMW's Adaptive M Suspension (a £2495 option on lower models) allowing you to stiffen it up when the mood takes you. By selecting 'Sport +' mode (one of four), it's at its firmest, the throttle is sharper, and gearbox primed for even keener changes. In this state, the X6's handling is impressive, but it can't match a Porsche Cayenne for initial bite on turn-in and mid-corner grip.
The M50d gets a stiffer standard suspension set-up than the rest of the range, so it tends to pick up on road surface impactions more often, and struggles more than the 50i to remain settled over scruffy roads at low speeds, even in its most comfortable setting. That said, both cars are comparably settled at faster motorway speeds.

Both, however, suffered some wind noise around their mirrors once you get up to speed, and the test cars we tried also suffered some considerable road noise fitted with their 20-inch alloy wheels.

See the new 2015 BMW X6 going offroad

The new 2015 BMW X6 goes off road to showcase its athletic abilities. Even though it is not and has never been marketed as a true offroader, the BMW X6 can conquer the difficult terrain and deep swamps.
Journalists from around the world were given the go-ahead to “beat up” the new X6 as they see fit and the BMW offroad course at the Performance Center Driving School in Spartanburg seemed like the right spot.

It is indisputable that the F16 BMW X6 is an evolution of the E71 X6, with a design that doesn’t deviate from the proven formula. The new X6 is more masculine than ever, wider, slightly larger and meaner than ever. The front-end simply dominates the road and if you add the M Sport Package to the deal, you can see what’s in store, and more, for the upcoming BMW X6 M.
The dimensions of the two SAC can hardly be distinguished: three more centimeters in length, 2.5 centimeters more in width and 3 mm more height.

BMW has been able to shave 35 to 55 lbs. from the X6’s curb weight, depending on equipment. That helps increase fuel economy to 19/27 city/highway mpg for the X6 sDrive35i, 18/27 mpg for the X6 xDrive35i, and 15/22 mpg for the X6 xDrive50i.

For those seeking more than the base model, BMW will offer uplevel xLine ($2,500) and performance-focused M Sport ($3,500) trim levels. A dynamic damper control/rear air suspension setup ($1,500) and Dynamic Handling Package ($4,500) are the highlights of the extensive options list.

2014 Paris Motor Show: The New BMW X6

Today, at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, the new BMW X6 took the front stage and was first unveiled to journalists from around the world.
Despite going through some design changes, the 2015 X6 is still recognizable as an X6, and now comes with a larger fascia and lots of dynamic lines running across the sides, or from the rear to the front. A chrome twin-kidney grille, the X-shaped intersecting elements on the front bumper, and a rear haunch now accentuated by a curved crease, show the X6 is just as interesting as the first generation E71.

The new X6 shares its hood, grille, and headlights with the F15 X5, and the short rear-end with the new, smaller X4. From far away, some people may have a hard time telling the two apart.
The front-end is dominated by the “Air Curtains” incorporated in the outboard intakes, and the fender-located “Air Breathers,” both functional and aesthetic.

Inside, the new X6 also takes some design cues from the X5, but with a more sporty angle. The cargo capacity is smaller than before, however, swallowing 53.9 cubic feet of stuff versus the previous model’s 59.7. The second row now folds in 40/20/40 sections.
For the U.S. market, BMW will offer the X6 with the sDrive35i(rear-wheel drive), xDrive35i and xDrive50i configuration. The 2015 BMW X6 sDrive35i and X6 xDrive35i are equipped with the 300-horsepower 3.0-litre TwinPower Turbo in-line six-cylinder engine.

The car displayed in Paris features the Design Pure Extravagance package and the launch colour Sparkling Storm.

2015 BMW X6 with M Sport Package

With just three weeks before its world debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, the new 2015 BMW X6 with M Sport Package was spotted near the Spartanburg plant in South Carolina.
The new X6 comes with the following motor variants:
X6 xDrive30d,
xDrive40d,
xDrive35i
and xDrive50i.
In Europe, an M50d with a tri-turbo engine is offered as well.
The V8-powered X6 xDrive50i gets improved performance for the new model year. The 4.4-liter V8 engine churns out 445 hp, a boost of 50 hp.

New exterior colour choices include Dark Olive and Flamenco Red Metallic. Options include aluminium running boards and adaptive LED headlights. All models feature standard 19-inch light-alloy wheels, while 20-inch alloy wheels are optional.

The BMW X6M

We are drawing ever closer to the rumoured reveal of the BMW X6M. It is said to be being revealed at the LA Auto show but as it reveal draws closer and closer we are seeing more of the skin from the prototypes.

The second generation X6 is a much smarter looking version of the original and the M does nothing but build on this by adding a re-stylised bumper, bigger wheels rear diffusers and quad pipes! Sounds like quite a beast if you ask us!

The engine will be a 4.4-liter, twin-turbo V8 but BMW's M division may work its magic to give it a bit more power!

Its transition options have not been fully confirmed but its 6-speed automatic could be replaced by a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission or an 8-speed automatic.

We have branded wheels!

There's nothing like the feeling of getting a new car and what's better than a new car than new wheels to go with it?

Here at Big Motoring World, we have invested in our own branded wheels for the BMW X5 and X6. Take a look for yourself:

These new wheels have a personalised centre cap with our emblem on it. It also has our ‘Big Motoring World’ name badge on one star spoke of each wheel. We thought it would be an idea to test them out on an X6 so here they are:

BMW starts production on second-generation X6

The second-generation BMW X6 is now rolling on the production lines at the BMW factory (Spartanburg). The first new car is a Sophisto Gray X6 xDrive35i with black leather interior, which is on its way to a dealership in China.

As the world’s first sports activity coupe, the BMW X6 holds a special place in Spartanburg’s 20-year production history. The bold, new look of the second-generation X6 is a welcome addition to the plant’s X-model line-up.

The first generation BMW X6 was sold to around 265,000 customers from around the world and is considered one of BMWs most successful models. The second generation F16 X6 is built exclusively in Spartanburg and will be distributed in over 140 worldwide markets. The aim is to sell this second generation to more than 265,000 customers from around the world, and to surpass the sales of the first generation X6.

2015 BMW X4 Vs 2015 BMW X6 – Which One To Buy?

Last week the BMW F16 X6 sports activity coupe (second generation X6) was revealed. The X4 and new X6 carry a lot of the same characteristics and features, which makes them very close to being identical twins!

The F26 BMW X4 is built upon the X6 SAC design concept; with similar details, but is kind of playing in a lower league than the X6. The differences are in the size of the two cars, price and of course the materials and optional extras.

Just to put the minor differences into perspective, the BMW X4 is only, 23.8cm shorter, 7.8 cm flatter, and 10.8 cm narrower than the new X6.

In addition the roof line is identical, the transition from the kidney grill and headlamps, the split side character line with special emphasis on the rear wheels, and the unique rear design. All of these features are hard evidence of their similarity.

Inside there are a few difference to separate these near identical born twins. The new X4 has a cockpit that closely resembles one from the X3, while the F16 X6 stands out with a free-standing infotainment display and high-quality two-tone leather interior, which is defiantly more modern and luxurious.

Large differences also exist in the engine range. Three engines (xDrive30d, xDrive35d, xDrive35i) are available for both the X4 and the X6, but other unique models have been tailored for the different cars. For example the BMW X4 xDrive20d and the X6 xDrive40d, and not forgetting the top end X6 models, the X6 xDrive50i and the M-Performance tuned X6 M50d.

The BMW X4 xDrive20d, the entry-level model, starts at £36,575.00 in the UK, while the cheapest X6 will set you back £51,145.00.

So with this insight and comparison, which one would you choose?

Second Generation X6

Second Generation X6

The first generation of X6’s was sold to nearly 265,000 people- so here’s hoping the second generation will be just as successful.

The second generation X6 will be produced in BMW’s Spartanburg factory and then rolled out across 140 markets, worldwide. The X6 is rather special to Spartanburg as it was the world’s first place to produce a sports coupe (the X6.)

The first to be produced will be a Sophisto Grey (xDrive35i) with black, leather interior.

We think the new X6 will cause quite a stir for BMW lovers. What do you think? Will you be first in line to nab one?

2015 BMW X6 tuning program by Lumma Design

Lumma design, have revelled their tuning details for the new F16 2015 BMW X6.

The program for aftermarket X6 will include a wide body kit, which will incorporate a carbon fibre front lip and carbon fibre inserts that can be found on the side air vents. At the back of the X6 you will find a rear spoiler and a Lumma redesigned bumper with carbon fibre diffusers housing the four exhaust pipes.

A new carbon fibre bonnet has been fitted with a centrally mounted air vent.

If you own an XDrive 50i which originally comes with a V8 4.4litre twin-turbo engine, there is now an upgrade which will tune the eight-cylinder engine from 450 PS (330 kW) to around 590 PS (434 kW). This will allow the new Lumma modified and tuned X6 to reach a top speed of 183mph.

Other upgrades include larger 22 inch alloys with Vredestein Ultrac Vorti tires, sport seats with side support and built in airbags, velour floor mats and aluminium pedals.

So if you own a BMW X6 and are looking to have a change, look no further!

The almighty force of the BMW X4!

Hello bloggers,

We love a good car here at Big Motoring World so it goes without saying that the BMW X4 is no exception to the rule.

The idea behind the X4 was to merge two elements most commonly known for BMW’S. The power of the X-Drive and the sleek curves of the Coupé.

With leather interior, sports functions and a twin power turbo engine, I think it’s safe to say that the X4 is something special.

With the first X4 just having been released they are due to go on sale from 12th July 2014! Will you be in first in the queue?
