The BMW X6M

We are drawing ever closer to the rumoured reveal of the BMW X6M. It is said to be being revealed at the LA Auto show but as it reveal draws closer and closer we are seeing more of the skin from the prototypes.

The second generation X6 is a much smarter looking version of the original and the M does nothing but build on this by adding a re-stylised bumper, bigger wheels rear diffusers and quad pipes! Sounds like quite a beast if you ask us!

The engine will be a 4.4-liter, twin-turbo V8 but BMW's M division may work its magic to give it a bit more power!

Its transition options have not been fully confirmed but its 6-speed automatic could be replaced by a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission or an 8-speed automatic.

2014 X5.

Is this the wackiest paint job for an X5? We think it just might be!

The colouring was applied by vinyl wrap rather that re-painting all of the body work.
The new BMW X5 is 1.25 inches longer, half an inch shorter and a quarter of an inch wide. So, there isn’t much difference all in all but it makes a different to the amazing bodywork. The wheelbase is 115.4 (2,933mm) compared to the usual 115.5.

It’s priced to start at $53,725! What do you think? Your friends and family will most definitely see you coming!

The i8 Key Fob

The first official picture of the BMW i8 key fob has been realised and here it is:

As any usual BMW key, it has the buttons to lock ad unlock the car as well as well as a button to pop the boot but this key is a techs dream. They key also features a mini screen that will show a variety of vehicle information. One of the most useful bits of information the key will display will be how many miles/levels of lithium-ion battery and tank display.

What do you think of it? Too technical? Cool? Tell us what you think!

I8: 300,000 euros per car sold for advertising costs

It’s a well-known fact that the advertising of a new products is pricey but 300,000 per car sold…really?

According to the German trade journal Advertising and sell, BMW has invested around 16.6 million euros in 2014- just for the first half of the year all on the i8!

There has been 55 of the i8’s sold which equates to 301,818 Euros per car sold! The i8 is still in prosecution although production remains limited due to the volume constraints at the production factory. The number of i8’s sold is still said to be on the increase and is expected to increase dramatically in the next few months with the release in the US Market.

We wish BMW all the best with the i8 sales and we’re hoping to have one soon too but can you really justify 300,000 on advertising per car?

The BMW Kidney Grill

When you are asked about a BMW’s features what is the one thing that most people point out? Other than the double headlights and its sleek body shaping…The kidney grille of-course!

Have you ever wondered what a BMW would look like without its iconic grille? Well one clever little artist that goes by the name of Theophilus Chin has created designs of the BMW without its grille.

Now, if you ask us it’s a little weird and would take some getting used to but it’s not all bad! What do you think? Better or worse? Let us know by leaving a comment below, tweeting us @BigMotoring or post on our Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/BigMotoringWorld.

JUSTPARK!

JustPark is the new online service which allows drivers to locate and then navigate to a parking space.

Mini have also now confirmed they will be the first car brand in the world to integrate this system. Using the app, customers registered with Just Park will be able to located and book a parking space from over 100,000 spaced around the UK.

The car will then navigate to the parking space which saves the driver rolling around looking for somewhere to park. The average driver will spend 106 days of their life searching for a space.

How it works!
Drivers can opt to locate a parking space at their destination or get the app to search for spaces as they carry out their journey. The driver can then select and pay for the space whilst before being navigated to it! Simple and easy!

JustPark and BMW
“The app is the latest product of the partnership between JustPark and BMW i Ventures, the venture capital arm of BMW that invests in startups working to improvehttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/icon1.png mobility in urban areas and took a strategic stake in JustPark – formerly known as ParkatmyHouse – in 2011.”

Watch the BMW i3 park…itself!

For the last few months BMW have; without a doubt, been at the forefront of advanced vehicle technology.

The i3 has been quite the talk-of-the-town with its electric technology, futuristic design and plans for fuel cells. It also has (an optional) self-parking system that is so aptly named “Parking Assistant.”

The radar-based sensors on the front bumper scan spaces to gauge if the car can fit into them. If the car thinks it can fit into the specific spot, it will alert the driver who can then stop and park. Alternatively, the driver can pull close to the spot and turn on the self-parking system and the car will do the rest.

Not convinced? Have as look for yourself and let us know what you think by by leaving a comment below, tweet us @BigMotoring or post on our Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/BigMotoringWorld.

It’s safe to say that we think this is amazing and yes, we want one!

Second Generation X6

Second Generation X6

The first generation of X6’s was sold to nearly 265,000 people- so here’s hoping the second generation will be just as successful.

The second generation X6 will be produced in BMW’s Spartanburg factory and then rolled out across 140 markets, worldwide. The X6 is rather special to Spartanburg as it was the world’s first place to produce a sports coupe (the X6.)

The first to be produced will be a Sophisto Grey (xDrive35i) with black, leather interior.

We think the new X6 will cause quite a stir for BMW lovers. What do you think? Will you be first in line to nab one?

BMW sold 336 i3s in July...

It has been said that 358 i3s were sold in June with an increase to 336 during July 2014.
There is still said to be over 1,000 left available for purchase… Fancy one?

The two models of the i3 (Rex & BEV) have been put head-to-head with the REx model coming out on top with a sales ratio of 3:2.

The BEV model of the i3 has a range of 81 miles while the REx has a range of 72 miles in full electric mode and 39(mpg) when using the two fuel cylinders. So its overall range can average around 150 miles.

So, what do you think? Would you like a BMW i3? What model would you go for?

“I am the possible…”

Nothing sells us a product like its advert and we have to say,  the advert for the BMW i8 is rather spectacular.

With its sleek, futuristic design and staggeringly low running costs (due to it being so economical) it’s easy to see why the car is so sought after.

Hitting the UK market at £99,125 it may cause a bit of a hole in the ol’ savings account but with a 1.5 litre engine as well as two electric motors this little pocket-rocket is capable of a top speed of 155mph. With 357bhp it means the car can go from 0-60mph in no more than 4.4 seconds- pretty impressive, I think you’ll agree.

While you decide if you’d quite like to own this futuristic driving machine have a look at the advert for it and see what you think.

The BMW Z5

The BMW Z5 is a car that is hoping to hit the showrooms by 2017. The Z5 will have a font mounted engine but will be more centrally mounted in the car for better weight distribution across the axles.

The car is going to be made with lightweight materials with a target weight for 3300lbs. The Z5 will be a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a three stage power system.

The engine will house a ZF 6-speed manual gearbox, or an 8-speed automatic.

There are rumours going around that there could be an Z5M coming out soon after which would contain a 425-hp turbo six, which is currently being housed, under the bonnet of the new 2015 M3 and M4.

The test is marked on the users overall opinion on how easy they find it to learn how to use the functionality of the system, how it looks and if the user is inspired to learn and do more with it.

BMW’s iDrive system was tested along with 14 other brands in Germany, Italy, USA and Japan.

In Germany and Italy BMW came out on top followed by Audi, Mercedes, Volkswagen and Opel. In the USA Nissan came in top followed by a few other brands (including BMW). Lexus was the brand that won the race in Japan swiftly followed by  Toyota and Nissan.

So… BMW’s iDrive is the one to have in Germany and Italy but have you had a chance to use one? How do you rate their systems? Let us know by
