The upcoming BMW-Toyota sports car gets another rendering. German magazine Autobild illustrates what the jointly developed sports car would look like.

The two companies have been tight-lipped about details but the two companies say their partnership will last until at least 2020. Addition to the sports car, Toyota and the world's largest maker of luxury vehicles are cooperating on research into fuel cells, lightweight technology and lithium-air batteries. Both companies agreed to work together on lithium-ion batteries.

Some sources mention the reborn Toyota supra and the BMW Z4 replacement called 'Z5' are due to appear within three years and BMW is leading the packaging and desgin of both cars. Toyota will contribute to the styling as well. However other sources hint tot a three-cylinder Z3 spin off and also a powerful six-cylinder Z6.

The desgin of the Z4 replacements body is taking priority in the creative process, and hence designers are focusing on perfecting a convertible desgin. BMW also brings their knowledge in lightweight construction and the latest technology advancements from the i sub-brand.

BMW sources are saying that the BMW Z5 will feature a more radical front-mid-engine bias. Under the hood, it will feature a 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine with three power stages: 190hp, 245hp and 270hp. The engine will be matted to a ZF 8-speed automatic or six-speed manual.

Also a Z5 M is also been rumored.

G11 7 Series

With all these latest BMW 7 Series spy photos popping up on the internet, it was clearly just a matter of time until rendering artists will revise their take on the new G11 7 Series.

The guys over at Autozeitung are taking a stab at trying to outline what the new BMW 7 Series would look like. Their three-quarter view of the car aims to show the sportier character of the G11/G12 platform with more muscular wheel arches, a streamlined and lightweight sideline. Also the front-end gets a more angular look with sleek LED headlights connecting with the oversize and upright kidney grille. The font bumper gets some interesting air curtains with floating fins.

Meanwhile the rendering might not be entirely accurate at the moment, they will certainly get better as we approach Spring 2015 when the camouflage will slowly starting to peel off and to tease us before its September unveil.

A new series of engines will also be made available for the G11/G12 7 Series models, from diesel to petrol and hybrids, in four, six and eight cylinders.

Petrol Engines - The new G11 and G12 models will use petrol engines with three different cylinder configurations: a four, six and the V8. The entry-level petrol, sold under 730i badge, will produce 260 horsepower from the new 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine.

The next petrol model is the 740i powered by a new 3.0 liter six-cylinder engine with an output of 330hp.

The powerful V8 Twin-turbo is the same unit as the one used in the current generation 750i and 750Li. So the power is expected to be around 460 horsepower.

The top petrol remains the 760Li and its V12 6.6 liter engine, that powers the Rolls Royce Ghost and Wraith, it will continue to produce 600 horsepower. However apparently it has a slightly better fuel consumption.

Diesel engine - The three or four diesels offered, all depends how you look at them (725d, 730d, 740d and 750d) will have a power range from 258 to 381 horsepower. However the entry-level diesels are said to be the most efficient engines ever seen with unprecedented low CO2 levels.

Plug-in Hybrids - Two plug-in hybrids, a 730e and 740e model, are rumored as well. The first would pair the electric drivetrain to a four cylinder engine (730e) while the second one to a more powerful six-cylinder (740e). The 730e is rumored to produce 275 horsepower with an average consumption of 2 liters per 100Km.

However both hybrid versions can run on pure electric mode at speeds up to 120Km/h, with a maximum range of 60 kilometers, which could increase to 100 kilometers in the most powerful hybrid version.

Euro NCAP: 4 Stars for the MINI Cooper

The new generation MINI Cooper was rated four stars by the Euro NCAP.
In the European safety and crash test has scored 79 percent in Adult Occupant, 73 percent in Child Occupant, 66 percent in Pedestrian Safety and 56 percent in Safety Assist. The only “Marginal” rating was given to the torso in the Side Car impact.
Other areas of the test were marked as “Adequate” or “Good”. The only “Poor” rating was given to the lower part of the hood and lower side parts of the windshield.

Here are the results:
Adult Occupant:
The passenger compartment remained stable in the frontal impact. Dummy readings indicated good protection of the knees and femurs of the driver and passenger. MINI showed that a similar level of protection would be provided to occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different positions, whose knees might strike the dashboard at a different location to that seen in the test. In the side barrier test, forces were transmitted to parts of the dummy which are not representative of a human body, reducing the load on the ribs. These forces resulted in the maximum penalty being applied to the chest score and the assessment being downgraded from good to marginal. Loads on the abdomen also indicated marginal protection. In the pole test, protection of the chest and abdomen was rated as adequate. Tests on the front seats and head restraints revealed good protection against whiplash injury in the event of a rear-end collision, while a geometric assessment of the rear seats indicated that the protection there would also be good. An autonomous emergency braking system is available which works at low, city-type speeds. As it is an option, it was not included in the assessment.

Child Occupant:
In the frontal impact, decelerations in the chest of the 1½ year dummy were marginally high, despite the dummy being sat in a rearward-facing restraint. Forward movement of the head of the 3 year dummy, sat in a forward-facing restraint, was not excessive but forces in the chest and neck were also marginally high. The front passenger airbag can be disabled to allow a rearward-facing restraint to be used in that seating position. However, no information is provided to the driver if the airbag is still armed and unsafe for a child restraint, and the system was not rewarded. All of the child restraints for which the car is designed could be installed and accommodated, except for the Group 0+ restraint used for the assessment (Maxi-Cosi Cabriofix). While this restraint could be properly accommodated in the car, installation in the rear passenger seat was difficult. Height adjustment is an option on the front passenger seat and, without this, installing the restraint in the rear requires more actions than Euro NCAP considers suitable, and zero points were awarded.
Pedestrian
The bumper provided good protection to pedestrians’ legs and scored maximum points. However, the front edge of the bonnet was poor at all test locations and scored no points. The MINI has an active bonnet. The system detects when a pedestrian has been struck and uses actuators to raise the bonnet, providing extra clearance to the hard structures in the engine bay. MINI showed that the system worked robustly for a variety of pedestrian statures and over a range of speeds. Accordingly the bonnet was tested in the deployed (raised) position and results were predominantly good or adequate.

Safety Assist:

Electronic stability control is standard equipment on the MINI, as is a seatbelt reminder for the front and rear seats. A driver-set speed limitation device is an option. As it is expected to be fitted to most cars sold, it was included in the assessment. An autonomous emergency braking system is available as an option but is not expected to be fitted to most of the cars sold, so it was not included in the rating. The MINI does not have a lane assistance system.

The Two Apprentices Working For Big Motoring World...

We currently have two apprentices working for Big Motoring World....

  • Amir Ali - Motor vehicle technician
  • Beth Lloyd - Marketing and media administrator

My name is Amir Ali, i'm 20 years old. I'm currently doing an apprenticeship with Big Motoring World. I'm sharing my time between Big Motoring World and North West Kent college. I've been at college now for 3 years studying Motor Vehicle and have been working at Big Motoring World for one year as a Motor Vehicle Technician.

My job role is a Retail Technician, which means I deal with all the retail cars that come into Big Motoring World.

The different challenges I have to deal with on a day to day basis are dealing with jobs that require high skills.

The type of decisions I make are to keep within the time I have been provided to deal with the situation I'm dealing with and to also complete each job to be best of my capability.

I was interested in joining Big Motoring World because I had heard that they are a very successful business, which I wanted to be a part of to show them what I am capable of and to let them see the me succeed to the best of my abilities. It was also a good way for me to learn new skills within the trade, from a very young age Motor Mechanics has been a big passion of mine as I was pretty much brought up around it.

What motivates me in doing what I do is knowing that I will be learning new skills so I can have better opportunities for the future.

managing my work life with my social life is easy as I only work part time so the days I don't work  can do my college work then socialise with my friends and family.

My plans for the future is of course to be still working with cars, however I would like to own or be an important manager for a big motoring business, also I would like to be able to build a once in a life time special edition car.

My name is Beth Lloyd, I'm 17 years old. I'm currently doing a Full Time apprenticeship with Big Motoring World.

My job role is Marketing and Media administrator, which means I advertise cars on the website, check the salesman stock list, write blogs and I deal with social media.

The different kinds of challenges I have to deal with on a day to day basis is working under pressure, and managing to keep in the deadlines for what I've been provided to do.

As I'm currently doing an apprenticeship I don't really have to make any serious decisions, however in the near future once I've completed my NVQ and my apprenticeship then I will be starting to make decisions on my own to carry out.

Believe it or not I actually got this apprenticeship by covering for my cousin doing his paper round. however I have heard that Big Motoring World was a very successful company, so I am happy that I have been given an opportunity to become a member of their team.

What motivates me doing what I do is knowing that if I don't work hard and try my best in everything that I do, I wont be able to fill out my plans for my future.

Managing my work life and social life is pretty easy as I work Monday to Friday, so I have the weekend to chill out and socialise with friends and family.

The plans I have for my future is to become a fully qualified paramedic, or a successful business women, owning different companies all round the world.

Manhart Racing debuts another tuning project at the 2014 Essen Motor Show. The Manhart MH4 550 is built upon the new BMW M4 Coupe and delivers 550 horsepower from the six-cylinder 3.0 liter engine found in the F80/F82 M3/M4. The torque was also increased to 820 Nm.

The maximum speed is raised to 340Km/h.

Along with the power upgrade, the Manhart MH4 550 also gets a new body kit with plenty of carbon fiber parts. At the front, the tuning company includes a redesigned bonnet, front spoiler lip and kidneys.

On the side, wider side skirts give the car a powerful stance. in the back, carbon fiber parts, like the rear diffuser and boot lid spoiler, are rounding up the sporty look of the tuned-up M4.

21-inch alloy wheels - Concave One - were fitted to the front and rear, covered in 295 and 225mm wide tires. A 3-way adjustable coil-over suspension with club sport setup and 35 millimeters lowering comes from KW. The braking system received an upgrade also in order to cope with the high power.

Akrapovic brings to the table their exciting exhaust system with four tailpipes surrounded by a carbon fiber diffuser.

How about a proper BMW Van

BMW is one of the few German automakers who doesn't have a proper Van in their lineup. Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, DKW/Auto-union/Audi, all made some sort of van, however the closest BMW has even gotten to a Van is with the new 2 Series Active Tourer.

BMW has resisted the temptation to adventure into yet another segment and to potentially damage its brand image. But the question remain: Is there a demand from BMW customers for a proper sized Van?

The market size around the world for full-size Vans and minivans is compelling enough for any automakers to jump into a new source of revenue. Using an existing platform to "Grow" a Van on top of its the most obvious choice. For example; imagine a BMW X5 or the upcoming X7 sharing its fairly long wheelbase with a taller, boxy vehicle that could further expand the interior space and luxury inside the cabin.

However even more feasible solution would be the front-wheel drive layout seen in the 2 Series Active Tourer and especially its long wheelbase version with seven seats that comes out next year. The cleaver packaging for the surfaces and panels could be made possible by the front-wheel drive platform which means no drive-shaft eating up room in the center of the car.

What do you think: should have BMW built a Van?

Christmas with different countries - Christmas is forever

Christmas is celebrated in many different ways, by many different people, in many different countries...

'Christmas is forever, not just for one day. It's for loving, for sharing and for giving...Not to be put away like balls, lights and tinsel...The good you do for others is the good you do for yourself.

History of Christmas - Jesus birth - 'The reason for the season', if you will. Two different ancient accounts - the Gospel of Matthew and the Gospel of Luke - record the birth of Jesus of Nazareth as occurring in Bethlehem of Judea. Truthfully his birth wasn't that different from any other baby boy's at that time.

Of course, there are a few unusual elements. There is the report of a remarkable star in the sky and stories of angles singing. But most of the details of Jesus' birth are quite ordinary. Though somewhat scandalous - an unmarried couple having a baby out of wedlock - it's a story that normally wouldn't garner much attention.

Except, of course, that this little baby grew up to be a revolutionary Jewish teacher, a threat to the religious establishment, and a crucified leader of a band of misfits who claimed to see him risen form the dead three days later.

And that story certainly did garner attention, eventually transforming the mighty Roman Empire and launching the Christian movement that today counts over two billion followers.

At first, Christmas were focused on remembering just Jesus'life, death, and resurrection. Few thought to commemorate his birth as an important marker. But by the early middle ages, Christian leaders had decided to celebrate this holiday on December 25th.

They couldn't be certain about the actual date that Jesus was born because there were no records. Jesus was born among the poorer classes, and no one stopped to mark the day or even the month a poor child came into the world. So the early church leaders chose a day to set aside for celebrating Jesus' birth.

Even though this might be hard to imagine, given the importance many cultures now put on birth based on accurate calculations of other dates in Jesus' life. About the same time, in 274, Roman Emperor Aurelian instituted a pagan festival celebrating the "Birth of the Unconquered Sun", which coincided with the winter solstice on December 25. It's unclear is Aurelain was attempting to create a pagan alternative to a date already of some significance to Roman Christians, or vice versa.

However either way, in the years that followed, as Christianity became the established religion of the Roman Empire, celebrating Jesus' birth on December 25 as Christmas - "Christ's mass" - was adopted.

Christmas in the United Kingdom

In the United Kingdom, families often celebrate Christmas together, so they can watch each other open their presents, and to spend quality time together.

Most families have Christmas Tree in their house for Christmas. The decorating of the tree is usually a family occasion, with everyone helping. Christmas Tress were first popularised in the United Kingdom by Prince Albert, the husband of Queen Victoria.

Most villages, towns and cites are decorated with Christmas lights all over the Christmas Season. Often a famous person switches them on. The most famous Christmas lights in the United Kingdom are in Oxford Street in London. Every year they get bigger and better with thousands of people go to watch the big 'Switch on' around the beginning of November.

Like most countries, Nativity Plays and Carol services are also very popular at Christmas time. The church is only lit up by candles. Its a very special service and always makes me feel very Christmassy! Lots of other British churches also have Carols by Candlelight and Christingle services.

Many children believe that Father Christmas comes and leaves presents for them under the tree and in their stockings on Christmas Eve, ready for them to open on Christmas day. Many children leave out mince pies and a small glass of brandy for Father Christmas to eat and drink when he visits them.

However there are some customs that only take place in the United Kingdom, such as;
Wassailing - This is an old Anglo-Saxon custom that doesn't take place much today.
Boxing Day - This is a very old custom that started in the United Kingdom and now is taken as a holiday in many countries around the world.

In the United Kingdom, the main Christmas meal is usually eaten at lunchtime or early afternoon on Christmas Day. It's normally roast turkey, roast potatoes and 'all the trimmings' which means vegetables like carrots, peas, sweetcorn, brussel sprouts, stuffing and sausages wrapped in bacon. It's often served with cranberry sauce and gravy. For dessert it's often Christmas pudding, however mince pies and lots of chocolates are eaten too.

Christmas in India

Compared to other religious festivals, Christmas is quite a small festival in India, due to the number of people who are Christians (about 2.3%) compared to people who belong to other religions. Having said this, the population of India is over 1 billion, so there are over 25 million Christians in India.

One of the largest Indian Christian communities is in Mumbai. A lot if the Christians in Mumbai are Roman Catholics. Midnight mass is a very important service for Christians in India, especially Catholics. The whole family will walk to the mass and this will be followed by a massive feast of different delicacies, and the giving and receiving of presents. Churches in India are decorated with poinsettia flowers and candles for the Christmas Eve Midnight Mass service.
Instead of having traditional Christmas Tress, a banana or mango tree is decorated. Sometimes people use mango leaves to decorate their homes.

In southern India, Christians often put a small oil burning clay lamps on the flat roofs of their homes to show their neighbours that Jesus is the light of the world.

Christmas in Mumbai often display a manger in a front window. Also families go to great lengths to hang giant paper lanterns, in the shape of stars, between the houses so that the stars, between the houses so that the stars float about you as you walk down the road. Every household also makes sure that they have a stock of home made sweets ready to give to visitors.

In South-West India, in the state of Kerala were, 22% of the state's 33 million of the population are Christmas and Christmas to them is very important festival. Traditional Catholics fast don't eat from 1st to 24th of December - until the midnight service. Every house will be decorated with a Christmas star. During the start of the Christmas season, almost all the stationary shops will be filled with new and variety Christmas stars. People make cribs in their homes and Churches.

In North-West India, the tribal Christians of the Bhil folk, go out night after night for a week at Christmas to sing their own carols the whole night through. They go to surrounding villages singing to people and telling the Christmas stories.

Christmas in Jamaica

Christmas is a very special time in Jamaica and like a lot of other countries, radio stations play carols all through the Christmas season. Lots of people paint their houses and hang new curtains and decorations for Christmas. Most families spend Christmas day at home with friends and family members.

The Christmas day meal is usually prepared on Christmas Eve. The traditional Jamaican Christmas meal includes fresh fruits, sorrel and rum punch and meat. The Christmas Day breakfast includes ackee and saltish, breadfruit, fried plantains, boiled banana, freshly squeezed fruit juice and tea. Dinner is usually served in the late afternoon and this may include chicken, curry goat, stewed oxtail, rice and peas.

Jamaican red wine and rum fruitcakes is traditional and is eaten in most homes. The fruits in the cake are soaked in red wine and white rum for months before Christmas.

Christmas in Taiwan

Christmas is celebrated more widely in Taiwan than in mainland China. however not many people in Taiwan are Christians (about 5%), many stores will sell Christmas related items at Christmas time. It's also not a notional holiday in Taiwan.

Even so, most children know about Santa Claus and might even know a Christmas song or two! Parents of children at popular English schools expect a full Christmas festival, complete with gift exchanges, singing, and of course, a visit to the school from Santa. Many schools will perform a kind of Christmas a pageant or play with sugar plum fairies, reindeer, snowflakes, elves and other Christmas characters singing on stage for parents.
