MotorTrend puts together an
impressive line-up for their annual Worlds’ Greatest Drag Race. This year’s
contenders start with the new BMW i8 and M4 Coupe,
and continues with Alfa Romeo 4C, Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, Jaguar F-Type Coupe R,
Nissan GT-R Nismo, Porsche 911 Turbo S, Ford Fiesta ST, Subaru WRX STI and the
Volkswagen Golf GTI.
Based
on the power output and engines found under the hood, the favorites were the
911 Turbo S, Nissan GTR, Jaguar F-Type R Coupe and Camaro Z/28. While the BMW
M4 handles itself amazing on a race track, it is simply not powerful enough to
keep up with the big boys on a straight line.
So which comes at the top?
Porsche 911 Turbo
S which
runs in the quarter mile in 10.9 seconds at 126 mph. Following very closely is
the Nissan GT-R Nismo with 11.1 seconds at 125.3 mph. Just barely behind the
GT-R we have the Jaguar F-Type Coupe R with a quarter mile of 11.8 seconds at
122.3 mph.
BMW M4
comes up on the fourth place with 12.2 seconds at 117.8 mph while the i8
finishes sixth: 12.4 seconds at 112.1 mph. Not a bad time for the hybrid
sportscar.
