After 93 years of sitting in our window screens, George Osborne
has announced that the tax disk is going to be axed in favour of an electronic system.
The tax disk was introduced in 1921 but the change of heart is
said to be due to that tax disks are simply not needed any-more. Both the police
and DVLA; when searching for your details, have everything (including all your
tax disk details) registered online, so there is simply no reason to have a
physical tax disk any-more.
Also, there are said to be plans to enable people to pay for
their car tax weekly by direct debit if they cannot pay yearly or every six
months. This will make things a whole lot easier!
The tax disk and payment changes are said to be coming into
effect in October 2014!
