As of February 2014 the diesel particulate filter will
become a port-of-call of every diesel cars MOT.
For those that are not too sure as to what a diesel particulate
filter is; it's a filter that collects the soot released by the cars
exhaust. This soot is then converted to ash that can be released into the atmosphere, causing very little damage! Diesel particulate filters have been used for over 20 years
and help to ensure that cars meet the European emission standards.
Every diesel car is fitted with a DPF as standard.
Some firms offer the service of removing the filer as they claim it will make
the car better for the economy. This is not right and if the car is found without a filter the car
will fail its MOT!
