Did you know?

11:14

Hello everyone,

Have you ever been abroad and noticed the cars registration plates? Apart from the obvious difference in layout both the front and back registration plates tend to be white. So why in the UK do we have a white plate on the front and a yellow plate on the back?

Well, here’s the answer:

It was made illegal in the UK to have a white light shining from the rear of a car. This law was amended with the introduction of reverse lights. This allows a white light to be shown alongside a red light to alert other drives of a backward moving vehicle.

Alongside this, white and yellow and the most contrasting colours, making the actual registration plates more visible and easier to read from a further distance!

So, now you know!
